Join

There are only two prerequisites to joining the Model A Touring Club, MATC for short. First, you must own a Model A capable of participating in the tours of the type we sponsor. Second, you must love to tour in your Model A. If you pass this test, then you should consider joining us.

To make the most of our club, you will need to be able to devote a period of about four weeks to one of our foreign tours. Members who are still working sometimes have difficulty getting this much vacation at one time. However, our domestic tours are quite interesting and tend to be about two weeks long.

While it is always helpful for our members to be self sufficient in the matter of Model A mechanics, this is not a strict prerequisite. Our members are friendly and so cooperative that when the occasional mechanical difficulty arises, a car owner has difficulty getting close enough to his or her car to work on it!

Being scattered around the country as we are, we do not have frequent meetings. We do meet annually at the MAFCA and MARC annual meetings. At those times when a tour has complexities and/or a number of new members, we may have a pre-tour gathering to meet, socialize and brief members on the tour before we embark on our adventure.

Tours are our main event and they turn out to be like family reunions where we see friends we have made on previous tours and we enjoy catching up on all the news.

Our club numbers roughly 100 family memberships, generally with two individuals per family. This number includes Inactive members. Some members, after taking a tour, decide to assume an Inactive status. Inactive members don’t anticipate touring with us in the near future, but they want to stay associated with the club and receive our newsletter so as to not miss a tour of interest. Inactive members cannot vote or hold office. Should they desire to tour with us, they are permitted to do so, but must wait to sign up for a tour after all the Regular members have had first choice to do so. Since some tours are restricted in size, being an Inactive member has consequences.

Non-members wishing to participate in a tour must join the club. You can obtain an application by clicking on the link under the club badge to the left. We welcome new members at all times!
