Sep. 1998 - Early Ford European Tour: Lee Chase organized a Ford V-8 Tour to Europe,
but too few V-8 owners applied. Lee recruited some Model A’s. Starting in Holland,
we drove to Belgium, with a rally from Mons to Charlieville, France with the Royal
Belgium Veteran Auto Club. From there we drove through Luxembourg, and Germany, back
to Holland where we shipped our cars back home. This was the seed that sprouted into
MATC.
Oct. 1999 - Baja California Tour: This time Lee forgot about the V-8’s and concentrated
on getting 16 Model A’s to Mulege, B.C. Few of us had ever been “south of the border”
- especially not in our A’s. We had the “Green Angels,” a Mexican Tourist Road Service
organization with us and had a great time. After this, we immediately formed a touring
club.
