Alaska – Entry #9

July 10

(07/12/07)

The “Bone Yard”

Smaller Parts on display inside the

Hangar

More “Rust” and all for sale!

On July 9, before we left Wetaskiwin (south of Edmonton), the guys went back to the junk yard that was associated with the Reynolds-Alberta Museum.  By the way, it was raining!

From Ron……there was about 20 acres of pre-1940 cars, trucks, tractors, equipment, airplane parts and an airplane hanger full of car parts on tables. Everything outside and inside was for sale.  We spent about 2 1/2 hours digging, looking and buying parts.  See the pictures enclosed.  It was the largest pile of parts and rust I’ve ever seen!  No more room left in the wagon.

In the evening, we had a BBQ with the Stampede City A’s out of Calgary.  Their clubhouse was built in the early 80’s by their members.  It currently sits on one of their Club member’s property.

They have their meetings there and work on projects.  Currently, they are working on a nice 31 AA truck.  We joined approximately 35 members of their club for steak and all the fixings.  Their club will be leading some of us to Banff and Lake Louise and the others will be at the Stampede.

We are headed for the Stampede at noon on July 10th.  More to follow.
