A CHALLENGE TO ALL MATC MEMBERS!

Most of the MATC members live in the Southern California Region. Here is a grand opportunity for us to show our colors! In recent years, MATC has been the leading Chapter of MAFCA regarding attendance at the MAFCA Annual Meeting & Banquet. Even when the meetings have been on the East Coast! Here we are in our own back yard, so to speak. It would be a shame to lose this distinction to one of the other Southern California chapters. So, show your support for MATC and MAFCA, plan to attend this one-of-a-kind meeting! Read more about what will take place.

This meeting will celebrate the Fiftieth Year since MAFCA’s founding and all the stops are being pulled out for this one! In charge are Marlin Perry and Bob Trousil, both are MATC members, and they assure us that there has never been an annual meeting like this one and never will be in our life times! So, you will want to attend this one, for sure!

For example, every registration will be given a radiator medallion like the one shown on the left (click the thumbnail for an enlarged view). MAFCA is footing the bill for these!

MAFCA is putting on (paying for) the Anniversary Dinner Party. Two exciting tours are planned. Busses will take members to the Ronald Reagan Library and to the Nehtercutt Collection. If you have never been to these two places, you have a treat in store.

The Reagan Library recently completed its building for a Boeing Jet used formerly as Air Force One. You are invited to view the interior from the cockpit to the “head.” This plane, like our Model A’s, is only a memory of the past, when compared to current planes serving as Air Force One. It is displayed along with other presidential artifacts relating to the travel of the late Ronald Reagan. This, in addition to the Library, itself!

The Nethercutt Collection, in Sylmar, is world famous for its stately automobiles, impeccably restored, preserved and displayed in an elegant showroom atmosphere. In addition, period furniture and an outstanding collection of machines that produce orchestral music from periods gone by will amaze you. Included in this collection is the world’s largest Wurlitzer pipe organ.

The MATC Board will meet on the morning of 6 December. This could be your opportunity to sit in and take part in this discussion, or you could attend the MAFCA Board meeting this same morning and participate in the debates at the national level. In the afternoon, we will hold the MATC Annual Membership Meeting to update members on new tours planned and to discuss issues on the minds of members. You are invited to participate in these activities important to the club and to you.

On Friday evening, December 7th, MATC members will gather at an informal dinner in a restaurant near the host hotel. Details will be in the Fall Milepost -- watch for them and sign up for the Meet and the MATC activities!

There will be other attractions, such as seminars, plus the opportunity to meet with your friends from other parts of the country and share your love of things relating to the Model A Ford, such as Era Clothing, Restoration, Judging, or whatever your special interests might be.

Watch The Restorer for details and to obtain a copy of the Registration Form. Marlin and Bob, and all the members of the SCRG, have gone to a lot of effort to make this a very memorable event for all of us. Read more about this great meet in The Restorer and mark your calendars so that you will not miss it! This will be a grand time to reunite with those Touring Club members that you first met in Europe, or Australia, or wherever. You can reminisce about those tours and make future plans.
